The veneer process typically takes two or three appointments. Your dentist first removes a thin layer of enamel and takes an impression of your teeth so that our lab can create your custom veneers.
While you wait for your permanent veneers, your dentist places a temporary set. Once the lab has created your veneers, you return to the office so our dentist can bond them permanently to your teeth.
Veneers are a popular solution to create a vibrant and aesthetically pleasing smile. First, a dentist applies a thin shell to the surface of your tooth or teeth. Then, a lab customizes the colour and shape. Finally, your dentist cements the veneers in place and ensures a secure, tight fit.
Ceramic veneers typically last anywhere between 10 and 20 years. However, this is dependent on how well you care for them. Veneers require regular brushing and flossing, just like your natural teeth. Composite veneers generally last only 4 to 8 years.
At Gordon Family Dentistry, we offer two different veneer options: porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Because each person has unique needs, there is no best veneer option. For more information on which treatment is right for you, call us today to set up a consultation.
Generally, veneers are not painful. However, in some instances, individuals may feel slight discomfort during the treatment process as the dentist files away a thin layer of your tooth enamel to tightly fit the veneers against your natural teeth.
